Exploring these ice formations feels like you’re entering a different dimension. Glaciers currently cover around 11% of Iceland’s surface and have a huge influence on the climate. Storms and gale force winds are the norm around here and as a local you have to accept that your life is totally governed by the weather. Winter can be tough with only a few short hours of light, which combined with back to back storms can mean you’re basically trapped indoors in the dark for many days at a time. There is however a charm to this if you choose to embrace it, in a way it’s nature telling you to take a moment to breathe, rest and reset. #iceland
